Shared Rulesets

The Shared Rulesets (sometimes called Account Rulesets) feature in the portal offers you the ability to create segmentation rulesets that can be used in any segment on any campaign. Shared rulesets are often very useful if you find yourself having to create the same ruleset on multiple segments. For example, a common shared ruleset is something like "Current Page Cart Value is greater than 1" to determine if the user has products in the cart. Rather than remaking this rule on each segment, the segment's ruleset editor allows you to simply reference this shared ruleset.
Much like the ruleset editor in segments, the shared ruleset editor allows multiple rules that operate together. All of the defined rules must be met for the ruleset to be considered true.
Referencing a shared ruleset in a segment is the same as adding any other rule. Select the "Account Ruleset" rule and choose the desired shared ruleset. It is acceptable to have more than one shared ruleset per segment ruleset. The entire shared ruleset essentially acts like an individual rule when applied to a segment.
The list of shared rulesets provides some general information about the each shared ruleset, including the number of rules on the ruleset and the number of times the ruleset is used in segmentation.
There are a few actions available for each ruleset in the list:
Add to Segments: Clicking this will slide-out a section that will allow you to set the current ruleset on one or more segments. The shared ruleset will be added as a rule to every ruleset on all chosen segments.
Rename: This will allow you to set a new name on a shared ruleset.
Copy: This will copy the shared ruleset and create another. It does not affect the source ruleset.
Delete: This will remove the shared ruleset. You cannot delete a shared ruleset that is referenced by any segment.
As mentioned in the introduction, editing a shared ruleset is virtually identical to editing a ruleset on a segment. Changes made to a shared ruleset will immediately be reflected in the runtime system of every segment that the ruleset is used.
You cannot reference another account ruleset as a rule in a shared ruleset.
